If you live anywhere near San Vicente and Barrington, you have probably noticed the surge of new spots serving bagels and coffee. Lines form early, iced matcha cups appear everywhere, and the neighborhood suddenly feels like the ideal place to spend an entire morning wandering from one shop to the next. Here is a look at the new arrivals and what makes each one worth a stop.

PopUp Bagels 11710 San Vicente Blvd
COMING SOON: PopUp Bagels began as a backyard project in Westport, Connecticut when founder Adam Goldberg turned a pandemic baking hobby into a tiny subscription based pickup operation. The bagels are intentionally smaller, lighter, and meant to be eaten warm with a rotating selection of whipped spreads. PopUp Bagels

Layla Bagels 902 S Barrington Ave
COMING SOON: Layla started in Santa Monica under chef Sergio Espana who trained at Tartine and Gjusta. The bagels are naturally leavened sourdough with a mix of Montreal and New York traits and a menu that feels like it was built by someone who actually loves breakfast. Their Brentwood location adds a mellow, neighborhood friendly option to the area. Instagram: Layla Bagels
Pop’s Bagels 11928 San Vicente

Pop’s Bagels is the homegrown favorite that Brentwood residents have been loyal to for years. Founded by Zach Liporace in 2017, it started with small batch bagels made in a West LA apartment and grew entirely through word of mouth. The San Vicente shop has become a morning ritual for many locals who swear by the warm sesame bagels and the impossibly light whipped cream cheese. The breakfast sandwiches are simple and perfect, especially The Classic with egg and cheese.Website: Pop’s Bagels
Hank’s Bagels 11725 Barrington Ct

Hank’s is the Valley staple expanding west. Founded in Burbank by Trevor and Kelly Faris, Hank’s became known for hand rolled bagels and stacked sandwiches that often show up in local food roundups. Their Brentwood location moves the brand closer to the Westside crowd that has been crossing the hill for years just to pick up a Number Three with gravlax and radish.Website: Hank’s Bagels
Clark Street 11702 Barrington Ct

Clark Street opened its Brentwood location at 11702 Barrington Ct, bringing its artisan bakery/café vibe to 90049. Founded as a bread-first operation (“For the love of bread”) with multiple spots around LA, Clark Street offers a full coffee and breakfast/lunch menu too. What stands out: its hand-crafted loaves, bakery-counter pastries, and the ease of popping in early afternoon for a coffee and something baked. For a neighborhood like Brentwood where bagels and coffee rule the morning, Clark Street offers a slightly later rhythm.
Belwood Bakery 11625 Barrington Ct
Belwood Bakery has quietly held its ground in Brentwood for years and remains a comforting staple among the newer wave of cafes and bagel spots. Located at 11625 Barrington Court, this family-owned bakery crafts gourmet breads, pastries, and sandwiches every day. Among their highlights: a wide selection of macarons and “crookies” (half cookie/half croissant) that locals talk about, as well as handcrafted ciabatta-based sandwiches that even high-schoolers swear by. Say hi to Charlie, Anthony, Joanne or Hector when you stop by!

La La Land Kind Cafe 11698 San Vicente Blvd
La La Land started in Dallas and grew quickly through its mission oriented approach. The company hires and mentors youth who have aged out of the foster care system and trains staff to spread kindness as part of the cafe experience. The Brentwood location sits in the former Coffee Bean space and serves colorful drinks like the French Toast Latte and layered cloud matcha.Website: La La Land Kind Cafe
Alfred Coffee 11908 San Vicente Bl

Alfred began on Melrose Place in 2013 with the now famous slogan “But first, coffee.” The Brentwood shop has its own personality with a mix of regulars, families, and people sending emails from tiny sidewalk tables. Expect iced vanilla lattes, matcha drinks, and a steady stream of people who treat Alfred as their daily stop.Website: Alfred Coffee
Caffe Luxxe 11640 San Vicente

Caffe Luxxe has long been the refined European style option on the Westside. Founded in 2006 by Mark Wain and Gary Chau, the Brentwood Country Mart location brings small batch roasted beans, thoughtful espresso drinks, and a calmer energy than the trendier shops down the street.Website: Caffe Luxxe
Malou Coffee 912 S Barrington Av
Lovers of this specialty coffee may benefit from LaLaLand opening as it will likely reduce the lines here. Malou is one of the newest arrivals in 90049 on South Barrington Avenue. The shop specializes in ceremonial grade matcha sourced from Uji, Japan, along with a food menu built around fresh, modern flavors. The space is calm, bright, and especially popular with people who want something a little quieter than the San Vicente staples. Instagram: Malou Coffee

Community Goods 11911 San Vicente Blvd
Community Goods IF IT EVER OPENS will be a sensation, just like the Melrose store with lines around the block. Expect playful drinks, their amazin all day breakfast sandwiches and equally long lines, with a scene that leans heavily into social media culture. Instagram: Community Goods

Brentwood now has enough new spots that a single stroll can take you from a warm sourdough bagel at Layla to a matcha at Malou, then over to Alfred for an iced latte, and back to see the latest line forming for Hank’s or PopUp. It is no longer about finding a good cup of coffee or the right bagel. It is about deciding how many of them you can fit into your morning.
